Harnessing the brain’s innate power to achieve in sports, academics and life.

“We don’t get to pick what our nervous system decides is a thing.” Thad Frye

You know this is not something to worry about. Maybe it’s a sports skill you’ve repeated thousands of times. Maybe you’re surrounded by friends giving a toast. You don’t choose for your brain or body to go haywire, but now you’re flooded, frozen or can’t get into the zone.

Brainspotting is an approach that is rooted in the nervous system.

We work directly with your nervous system to access and process old trauma that is stored deep in your midbrain. Luckily we don’t even have to know why you’re getting activated to work on your performance block. Instead of talking about old stories we used a fixed eye position to get access to the parts of the brain that store memory. From here our brains and bodies know what to do to release the blocks.

Structure of a Brainspotting Session

  • Identify concern

  • Location brainspot

  • Process and observe

During a Brainspotting session, we'll work together to address a specific concern that you'd like to explore. Once you've pinpointed this focus, I will assist you in locating your unique brainspot, a particular eye position that activates areas of the brain associated with the trauma.

Once we've identified your brainspot, we'll embark on the processing phase. This may involve simply observing whatever surfaces as you concentrate on your brainspot, or sharing what you notice about your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations.

It is perfectly normal to experience a variety of emotions and sensations in your body. At times you may encounter intense feelings like sadness, anger, or fear, or may experience a sense of calm and relaxation. It's essential to allow yourself to experience whatever emerges during this exploration.

Many individuals may find resolution in just a few sessions.
